Bob Newhart was an American actor and comedian who died with total net worth of $65 million. Bob Newhart came into the lime light in the early 1960s through his comedy albums; his first album was “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart”, which sold millions and was followed by other albums that won him Grammy awards.
Kevin Neal Newhart joined television screens with “The Bob Newhart Show” (1972-1978) in which he portrayed Dr. Robert Hartley, a psychologist. This was succeeded by Newhart (1982-1990) which was situated in a Vermont Inn. Two sitcoms that he performed were immensely successful and both depicted his typical ‘dead-pan’ humor and comic timing.
Early Life
Bob Newhart was born on September 5th of the year 1929 in Oak Park in the state of Illinois. Born to Eugene and Helen Olen Bernson in Chicago, the youngest of four children. Bob has three sisters Growing up in the Bridgeport area of Chicago and attending many catholic schools as a boy his primarily education.
Bob went to college wherein after he completed his studies he was drafted to the United States Army. He also took his part in the Korean War though never went overseas and was working as a personnel manager. He was discharged in 1954 and immediately went to law school, although he never completed his education there.
Career
After his service in the military, Newhart worked as an accountant as well as a clerk at an unemployment agency. He later joins the likes of the advertising copywriter for the renowned film and television producer.
To overcome boredom, he and his co-worker played practical jokes on each other; they spent hours making phone calls Charing about insane things. Recording these calls, they made them to radio stations. However, his partner headed for New York and thus, Newhart had to work on his comedy routines.
Bob shortly afterwards, another friend of his named Dan Sorkin played Bob’s recording to the Warner Bros Records and this led to his signing to the label in the year 1959. Newhart then adapted this programmed so that he could do it on stage at night clubs at night and ventured into the stand-up comedy.
In 1982, a new sitcom was aired known as Newhart. In the show Bob portrayed a character of an innkeeper in Vermont. Incomplete at this point, the show that would eventually become known as “Newhart” would go on to become a big hit.
Real Estate
In 1990, Bob spent $4. 2 million for a 1.4-acre property in Bel Air, California, today it would be approximately $8 million considering inflation rate. In the year 2013 Bob decided to sell this residence at the rate of $15. 5 million.
Only within the first year the buyer – a Canadian real estate developer – razed Bob’s 9,000 sq ft residence to the ground and sold the nearly 60,000 sq. ft plot of land with no house for $26mn. In November 2017, the empty lot got a new owner at $17. 65 million.
