He then began looking for acting roles; his first role came in Reckless, but he made his breakthrough after appearing in Desperately Seeking Susan. In 1985, Ava’s father landed a role in the movie An Early Frost; he played the role well, and the appearance earned a Primetime Emmy award nomination.
